Gaming and Education

As we all know, the fallacy that gaming interferes children's school lives and their achievements has been going around for years. However, as the educational sides of video games have been realized, this point of view has changed. In terms of ELT, Role Playing Games (RPG) such as Skyrim, Fallout NV, The Witcher 3 can be beneficial for the language education of the high school students. (as these games contain violence) In these games, they can assume the roles of their characters in a fictional setting. There is nearly no doubt that they will immediately be attracted to those charming virtual worlds and in order to communicate with the NPCs (Non-player characters) and to complete the quests, they have to know English. Back in my high school years, I always used to look up the words, phrases, sentences that I didn't know in the online dictionary when I was playing RPG. That helped me improve my English level so much. RPGs also make you creative, problem solver since there are puzzles, challenging creatures that you have to go through to progress. Plus, you can solve conflicts by diplomacy with your speech skills instead of resorting to the use of force and to provide your character's needs you need to improve your trading skills and learn how to manage your money. Before the end, in addition to RPGs, there are also another gaming genres that can be useful in education such as strategy games (EU4, Age of Empires), survival games (Minecraft, Don't Starve) etc. Ultimately, we can say that students can improve their English level and enjoy at the same time by playing RPGs and also can acquire some other skills present in the real life.

In Skyrim, you can create your character's physical features

In Fallout: New Vegas, you can draw your character's path
